12/31/2022 0 Comments Kevin durant stats![]() ![]() Now, instead of scratching and clawing and pleading for one NBA title, we are talking about how many he can win. Moving to Oakland and playing his home games at Oracle Arena with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala will be what cemented Kevin Durant’s greatness. The answer to a trivia question, but not one of the all-time greats. Maybe Dan Marino is a more apt comparison: great player who couldn’t win it all. If Durant stayed in OKC his legacy would be that of a Mike Conley: Forgotten 3 years after he retires. You are correct, I am saying you are dead wrong if you think this kills KD’s legacy. You know what though? That’s okay, because Durant’s decision to join Golden State is actually the best thing he could have ever done. Aren’t we supposed to hate the “selfish” players that just want to get paid? I’m just trying to stay trendy. Somehow, it’s okay for Mike Conley to take ridiculous amounts of money to stay with Memphis and never win anything, ever, but it’s not okay for Kevin Durant to go out and join a top contender to win the NBA title. That’s what he wants and he’s going after it with everything he’s got. He doesn’t care about waiting for OKC to deliver him the players that will help him “win on his own” (I’m laughing at the thought of that being a real thing), he cares about putting on the damn championship hat, shaking Adam Silver’s hand and kissing the Larry O’Brien trophy. Why? Clearly he wants to win and he wants it badly. The reality of the situation is this: KD could have chosen to stay in OKC and struggle to compete or he could take his talents elsewhere to boost his chances of winning it all - obviously, he chose the latter. How in the world could I be so crazy to think that? I happen to live in this realm known as reality, maybe you’ve heard of it. Like it or not, Kevin Durant choosing Golden State is what will bolster his legacy, not tarnish it. ![]() I hated when the Cardinals let go of Albert Pujols, but clearly that was the best decision looking back on it. However, hating his decision doesn’t make it a bad one. In fact, you can hate it as much as you want (probably because you’re jealous your team couldn’t land him if we got to the root of your hate). You don’t have to like KD’s move to the Bay Area. Sounds like a bunch of bitter old men who had to walk to school uphill in 10 feet of snow every day without shoes back in their day. Those are the most pathetic, misguided and quite frankly old and tired “reasons” I’ve ever heard. Okay, I can’t continue to write that stuff because my eyes are filled with tears from laughing so hard. All because he’s part of the new generation of whiny kids who take the easy way out of everything. ![]() He had signed his fate as a soft, weak-minded loser and would forever sleep in the bed he had made. Why? Because Kevin Durant had just thrown his whole career and life away. Not only were people stunned, they were confused, disgusted and angry. News of Kevin Durant’s decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder and join the Golden State Warriors to create a “super-team” had facebook and twitter practically imploding. The Ringer’s Bill Simmons said that Curry has now surpassed Durant on his all-time list after the Warriors star won his first Finals MVP trophy, while Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright posited before the Finals began that a Warriors title would hurt KD’s legacy. While it’s human to look back at what could have been, all signs indicate Durant is happy with his decision to pursue something different with the Nets, even signing a contract extension tying him to Brooklyn through the 2025-26 season.īut that won’t stop the dialogue.
