1/2/2023 0 Comments Salesx tax in ca![]() ![]() Anyone who plans to itemize should be keeping detailed records, as it will be very helpful in determining the amount of sales tax paid.Īfter the choice between standard or itemized deductions has been made, taxpayers have to make another decision regarding whether or not to claim either state and local income taxes or sales taxes (but not both). Itemizing deductions also involves meticulous record-keeping and can be tedious work because the IRS requires the submission of sales tax records, such as a year's worth of purchase receipts. In general, taxpayers with sales tax as their only deductible expense may find that itemizing deductions is not worth the time. Sales tax can be deducted from federal income tax only if deductions are itemized. This decision will be different for everyone, but most Americans choose the standard deduction. When filing federal income tax, taxpayers need to choose to either take the standard deduction or itemize deductions. Today, sales tax is imposed in most states as a necessary and generally effective means to raise revenue for state and local governments. Mississippi was the first in 1930, and it quickly was adopted across the nation. Of the many different methods tested, sales tax prevailed because economic policy in the 1930s centered around selling goods. Sales tax didn't take off until the Great Depression, when state governments were having difficulty finding ways to raise revenue successfully. Some of the earlier attempts at sales tax raised a lot of problems. and this is perhaps why there has never been a federal sales tax. had partly to do with the controversy over a sales tax! Since then, sales tax has had a rocky history in the U.S. This, together with other events, led to the American Revolution. ![]() This taxation without representation, among other things, resulted in the Boston Tea Party. was still a British colony in the 18th century, the English King imposed a sales tax on various items on the American colonists, even though they had no representation in the British government. The following is an overview of the sales tax rates for different states. New York, on the other hand, only raises about 20 percent of its revenues from the sales tax. Florida, Washington, Tennessee, and Texas all generate more than 50 percent of their tax revenue from the sales tax, and several of these states raise nearly 60 percent of their tax revenue from the sales tax. Sales taxes are much more important in the south and west than they are in New England and the industrial Midwest. Reliance on the sales tax varies widely by state. Sales tax provides nearly one-third of state government revenue and is second only to the income tax in terms of importance as a source of revenue. On average, the impact of sales tax on Americans is about 2 percent of their personal income. Rules and regulations regarding sales tax vary widely from state to state. These are only several examples of differences in taxation in different jurisdictions. Vermont has a 6% general sales tax, but an additional 10% tax is added to purchases of alcoholic drinks that are immediately consumed. In Texas, prescription medicine and food seeds are exempt from taxation. The sales tax rate ranges from 0% to 16% depending on the state and the type of good or service, and all states differ in their enforcement of sales tax. Unlike VAT (which is not imposed in the U.S.), sales tax is only enforced on retail purchases most transactions of goods or services between businesses are not subject to sales tax. States that impose a sales tax have different rates, and even within states, local or city sales taxes can come into play. These are Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon. At the state level, all (including District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam) but five states do not have statewide sales tax. In the United States, sales tax at the federal level does not exist. In other countries, the listed prices are the final after-tax values, which include the sales tax. In some countries, the listed prices for goods and services are the before-tax value, and a sales tax is only applied during the purchase. In most countries, the sales tax is called value-added tax (VAT) or goods and services tax (GST), which is a different form of consumption tax. Usually, the vendor collects the sales tax from the consumer as the consumer makes a purchase. A sales tax is a consumption tax paid to a government on the sale of certain goods and services. ![]() 1/2/2023 0 Comments Firld if dreams![]() ![]() In Shoeless Joe, the Ray Kinsella character kidnaps reclusive writer J.D. 1/2/2023 0 Comments Fallout wiki vault 101![]() ![]() Together, they began planning for their journey and theorizing types of mutations they might encounter. Sometime before 2241, an unnamed Vault 101 overseer strongly favored outside contact and assembled a survey team led by Anne Palmer. The Vault dwellers were sealed within according to the Vault 101 mantra, "we are born in the Vault, we live in the Vault, and we die in the Vault." The second Vault 101 overseer led Vault 101 dwellers by the same isolationist doctrine, but also attempted to convince senior Vault dwellers to become complicit in the Vault experiments. The first Vault 101 overseer died of natural causes in 2127, having prepared a subordinate to continue the Vault experiment. This was accomplished through regular fake radio transmissions (recorded before the Great War), increasing the idea among Vault 101's residents that the only hope of survival was within the Vault. Just after the Great War in 2077, the first Vault 101 overseer, in order to prevent anyone from leaving the Vault, created the illusion that the outside world was an uninhabitable nuclear-ravaged wasteland with absolutely no hope of existence outside of the Vault. Vault 101 was supplied with most of the equipment it would need to function indefinitely, such as seen with spare parts for the water processor, but the Vault did not receive a G.E.C.K., a device that would only be useful for surface dwellers. One of the main objectives of Vault 101 security has been the containment of these pests. However, Vault 101 has been opened numerous times, violating its original mandate, and became infested by radroaches during these events, making the Vault susceptible to additional large infestations as time went by. The original and underlying purpose of the Vault 101 Vault experiment was to stay closed indefinitely, in order to study the role of the overseer when a Vault never opened. The Vault 76 overseer was originally selected to be its first overseer, but she refused the position in order to stay in Appalachia. ![]() ![]() The Vault was constructed sometime in the 2060s along with the other Vaults in Washington, D.C. ![]() 1/2/2023 0 Comments Atlas restaurant![]() ![]() At.mosphere is the highest restaurant in the world and features a glass paneled room that complements a unique array of gastronomical wonders together with a panoramic view of the palm islands, the neighboring city, and the sea. Noted as a trope that is not Truth in Television in an educational video hosted by Kirk Cameron, possibly made in response to paranoid children who took Scare 'Em Straight tactics too much to heart.Although even that can be exaggerated, as many drug dealers prefer to live, obviously - something that kind of behavior doesn't really encourage (if this happens, they're usually cornered like Escobar, preferring death over prison, already are holding a good hand and/or are high themselves- possibly on their own drug). who are, quite unfortunately, Truth in Television and have always been (e.g. In this day and age, if a drug dealer is represented as "aggressive" in media, he will most probably be of the " shoot it out with the police and anybody who pisses him off" variety instead. If your friends go get high after school, you don't have to go with them, and they'll just agree to see you tomorrow instead. Thankfully, most anti-drug PSAs have been taking a different approach in the last few years: encouraging children to be "above the influence" in all respects toward peer pressure, not just in regard to doing drugs. It's much easier to demonize an evil outsider inexplicably hell-bent on getting Little Johnny hooked to drugs than to talk about the fact that the people who are actually likely to be encouraging him to try will be his friends and peers. "Talking to your kids" by scaring them with this nightmare was a lot easier than trying to understand the social environment one's child was in, and instilling values that would stand up and that parents agreed with. ![]() The only option left, then, was to fabricate this villain. In the strict household hierarchy of yesteryear, that last point in particular was a no-no. So while the "just say no" narrative would make perfect sense in a social setting, where there might actually be pressure to take them in order to look "cool" to one's peers, the problem was, an anti-peer pressure approach to PSAs would wind up contradicting the prevailing theory held by Moral Guardians at the time: that deviant behavior arose from anti-social tendencies, and since surely such "bad kids" are a shunned minority, bowing to peer pressure must if anything be a good thing! Not only that, any such PSAs would also break the illusion any child might have had that their parents are a bastion of safety and morality. Furthermore, it must also be noted that despite (and several would argue because of) government policy, the market for illegal drugs was and remains quite healthy throughout the world the Aggressive Drug Dealer has little reason to waste time trying to bully unwilling people into becoming their customers when there are almost certainly lots more willing customers eager to buy their product. From there, if they want more, they'll seek out the dealer themselves. Most drug users have their first taste at a party or some other social setting where the substance is being shared and they give it a try. The same way children are more likely to be abducted/molested by someone already in their lives than a stranger, they're far more likely to do drugs with their peers than some shadowy figure lurking in the playground. Any who do so will get caught very quickly, and be far less likely to actually get any customers. No drug dealer in their right mind would risk attracting attention to themselves that way, especially not in the middle-class environments these commercials are aimed at. So a type of training is required to "Just Say No." He won't take casual avoidance for an answer and will seek out and use intimidation just to coerce his target. The Aggressive Drug Dealer is out there trying to force your kids into doing drugs. A trope of yesteryear, born from The '80s' DARE programs and resulting commercials, "inspirational films," and very special episodes. ![]() |
